| Read Our Blog Read Our Blog Blog A New Purpose in Life Megan Hammond October 1, 2014 Senior Services, Training, Workforce 1 Wendy was out of labor for six years previous to coming to National Able Network in May 2014. She was enrolled in the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) to enhance her employable skills through working in Able’s call middle. Wendy also participated in Job Readiness Training workshops which helped her modify her resume and cover letter, learn more about on-line job applications, and prepared her for job interviews. Despite not being in knowledgeable work surroundings for the past six years, Wendy demonstrated that she was a fast learner by successfully choosing up tasks and projects in the call center. Prior to enrolling in SCSEP, Wendy began feeling depressed and felt as if her employable abilities have been going to waste. However, after coming to Able, Wendy said that working and coaching within the name center has “given [her] a purpose in life” and he or she now “ha s one thing to do every single day, something that [she] enjoys.” While working in the call center, Wendy informed Able’ SCSEP employees that she was dwelling with out gasoline in her condo for more than three years due to an unpaid bill. To alleviate Wendy’s state of affairs, Able referred to as upon its associate agency, the Legal Assistance Foundation of Chicago, to assist Wendy in paying her overdue invoice. With the assistance of the Legal Assistance Foundation and Able, Wendy had her gasoline bill paid in full. After three years of getting to organize quick food and processed meals on a scorching plate or within the microwave, she is now in a position to cook dinner and bake wholesome food for her family again! Wendy mentioned that the help from the Legal Assistance Foundation was the second best thing that has occurred to her â€" the first being coming to Able and enrolling in SCSEP! “Words cannot specific how I feel. It simply made me really feel so good to know that there are people on the market that care and can help others.” Wendy is continuous her work in Able’ call center. Eventually she want to continue her schooling and earn a degree in Psychology. Wendy’s total employment objective is to work in a Social Services job that helps people â€" just like the work we do at Able! Wendy can be a great addition to any staff!
